Is there anything on the market to subdue a dog on bonfire night?

The wifes whippet goes crazy at the first bang, he is crate trained but last yr pulled the door off and tried digging his way out of our living room through the carpet.

we returned from an hour out to find wall to wall shit and the dog hiding.

so since i have stayed in with him and locked him in the spare bedroom, but he still gets upset

diazipan or however you spell it....

one tablet about lunch time should see him through the night

the only problem with giving your dog medicine is that fireworks are now on sale upto christmas now  john

Tranquillisers can actually make them suffer more as they're doped up but can still hear, but internalise the stress because they are groggy. Get the CDs Sounds Scary

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sounds-Scary-phobias-including-fireworks/dp/B000XPA5MU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348769127&sr=8-1

It won't ever completely the cure the fear that a sound sensitive dog feels, but it does enable them to cope much better. I start playing the CD every year around the beginning of October, very quietly for an hour every evening to begin with, and gradually increasing in volume. It doesn't replicate the pressure waves that come through the air with a very loud bang outside the window, but it does really help to accustom them to the sounds.
