Savy 2
Went out last night for our first rabbit experience! Sadly we didn't get a thing! We managed to get close but no luck, then we managed to looses our ferret! We put her down a earth n she was down there a while but never reappeared, after and hours searching n nighttime falling in we decided to leave her :-( poop start to the rabbiting career!!! R.A.W 1,987
doesn't sound a good start but keep at it. did a dog mark the holes? stick to small berries especially without a collar. they are worth every penny. try to ask someone in your area to take you out otherwise i can see a new section on this site opening up for hunting of ferral ferrets. atb RAW Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
We had one the other day, entered the ferret into a small warren and she ended up way off down a flooded drainage channel with her rabbit, no chance we would have got her out without the collar as she had got the other side of the rabbit from the warren. weasle 1,119
Your better of ferreting in the morning so you have plenty of day light,If you get on your hands and knees and get your ear to the ground you can often hear if the ferrets working a rabbit. Quote Link to post

Glad it safe n sound though will learn from the experience now You won,t be the first to lose a ferret, even finding an escapee, not everyone owns a box and collar, most of us started without one.Pick your warrens, stick to the smallest possible,no matter the temptation,as the ferret learns its trade,so will you. oyama 27
Why were you ferreting at night? Is this a stupid question? 1 Quote Link to post
morton 5,368
Why were you ferreting at night? Is this a stupid question? A frosty moonlit night used to be the perfect excuse and opportunity to ferret a piece of land that would be otherwise off limits,a fall of snow and the cover of darkness was also appreciated at times. Savy 2
Why were you ferreting at night? Is this a stupid question? It wasn't at night we just went out for couple of hours but ended up getting dark looking the ferret Quote Link to post
