secretagentmole 1,701
Er stupid question but is it not cruelty to cattle to let them get infected by TB from diseased badgers, who will in turn be suffering the hellish effects of that illness?

Kay 3,709
according to defra , thats hell of a lot of dairy cattle , and hell of a lot of compensation to pay out , surely the government can grow a back bone & put a stop to this pointless lobbying from the RSPCA & the likes of May & just let the licences be issued to the relevant people to start a cull where its most needed The number of cattle compulsorily slaughtered as reactors or direct contacts was 18,213 in January to June 2012, compared to 18,081 in January to June 2011. http://www.defra.gov.uk/animal-diseases/a-z/bovine-tb/
skycat 6,174
Er stupid question but is it not cruelty to cattle to let them get infected by TB from diseased badgers, who will in turn be suffering the hellish effects of that illness? I don't suppose those idiots think that it's cruel for the farmer to rear his cattle, have them TB tested, and then have to get them destroyed when they test positive. Oh, I forgot, they're all probably veggies who think that rearing cattle for human consumption is cruel: I wonder if they drink milk though.
3175darren 1,102
The animal right fraternity hit a lot of different groups, hunters, shooters, fishermen, farmers, pharmaceuticals..... the list goes on. If we ALL united it's a war that would last a few weeks with 100% victory. It's never going to happen but collectively we hold a lot of weight. So what would you do to try and unite EVERYONE? How come no one has every tried to do this in the past, or have they? I would love to see all of us unite, it's what is needed without a doubt, unfortunately some areas of our sport hold themselves in higher regard, and look unfavourably on others, there are so many elements to our sport, with different back grounds and origins many different tears of society, I would love to see 1 team 1effort a balanced and professional effort people who would challenge the status quo, we can all go a lot further to help each others cause, proactively it would be interesting to set up a working party,to look into this but I don't know any multi millionaires prepared to back us,

kenny14 656
May's also likening his campaign to Nelson Mandela's struggle against apartheid . So if he's wanting to be like mandela, please, please can he be locked up for 27 years? .. That should be about enough time to sort the badgers out
The Seeker 3,048
Is there a link for this anywhere? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthnews/9563335/RSPCA-call-for-badger-friendly-milk.html Thanks for putting the link up Kenny, I heard it in an interview early this morning (6.30am?) with the tw@t from the aRSePCA on radio 4, he was trying to say its nothing against the farmers it's about giving consumers the right to choose just like they do with free range eggs or tuna. You may get it on BBC Iplayer It's time the Royal title given to this animal rights political charity was revoked.
RubyTex 1,957
RS "we need donations quick lads!" PCA I for one hope the whole organisation dies a financial death. What has a badger cull got to do with them?? It's not cruelty, which is what they are set up for i wouldn't mind if all they did was take in strays and punish Mr Smith for beating his dog half to death, but this issue is nothing to do with them! Of course it's all about the money, if they jump on this the donations will come thick and fast. What about the farmers at the bottom who are being persecuted whichever way they turn? Lose cattle through TB or potentially lose income through milk sales....it's just not on. Why bother giving your cattle an excellent life when you're going to be labelled cruel anyway?? Fcuking nebby money grabbing cnuts
Simoman 110
So a cull in selected areas by trained marksman is cruel but over 18,000 cattle suffering from tb in a 7 month period this year is acceptable. So this whole cull has been introduced as farmers are losing their livelihood, now in an ironic twist they want us to boycott the milk that is there business? Irony in its most ridiculous form. I'll be purchasing my milk from Sainsburys/Tescos/Morrisons as they have stated they are neutral to the cull and will support the farmers.........
Kay 3,709
looks like Attenborough has also got involved , as i understand it there plan is to cull up to 3000 badgers over a 4 year period , if the defra figures are correct & 18,000 head of cattle were destroyed over a 5 month period because they were reactors then 3000 over 4 years isnt exactly going to make a dent in the badger population . I could understand these people if they had given the go ahead to a mass cull of the '' total'' population , if taking the 3000 over the 4 year period make s a difference in highly populated areas & reduces the spread of bovine TB then it quite rightly it should go ahead http://www.fwi.co.uk/Articles/11/09/2012/135103/TV39s-David-Attenborough-joins-badger-cull-opposition.htm
