QB/XS79 .22 Co2 Conversion To PCP/HPA

Recommended Posts

To provide a challenge as well as an education into the workings of a pcp air rifle, I took the plunge and purchased an XS79 for the princely sum of....£99.

After some polishing, fiddling and faffing. I did it.

Now this path is very well trodden and recounted by men far more adept than I. To that end I have compiled my research and hereby offer it up to you for all those wish to try this very worthwhile project for themselves.

You planning on using a remote line or is it a king ratty phantom?

Bought all the parts and had an attempt to fix and service your pump today Mole, but no joy, I have an idea as to what is required, but with the weather being poor the van is full and i've no space to tinker :-(

Its a 2250B Got it as a fixer up pistol, I've turned it into allsorts so far, Pistol, Wire Stock, Standard Stock, new barrel etc....

The HPA will fit into the standard tube with a modded valve assembly and I've got various soft/normal and hard springs for the hammer.

This is how it looked with original barrel and wire stock and two shot magazine in place.

Wow, that wallet raiding mistress has a 'verminator' look about her!

With hpa, you gain a regulated high shot count pcp. Potentially for a fraction of the price.

These are truly purchases of the heart not head due to the large custom market. Or for the cash strapped 'wannabe'!

I've had to put the standard stock on her at the moment, because in that guise it was very easy to convert the rifle into a pistol by removing the wire stock and at just under 9ft/lbs I didn't fancy the idea of anyone calling it a pistol. Once I'm happy with the gun (I gave the 2 shot breech and magazine away last week and put a new alloy single shot breech in place) and it's sitting pretty at about 10.5 to 11 then I'll have the wire stock bonded into the adaptor so that it cant easily be turned into a pistol.

So now you are back in the land of PCP shooting, might I suggest you save some shillings and get a CO2 cartridge, in case you ever run out of air....

I did, but used it up getting a benchmark power level. The bottle gauges foul the barrel necessitating removal so a quick swap back isn't feasible. Don't like those disposable bottles either, what a waste, have kept it to reuse as something useful. Not sure what yet, but it'll come.
