i went for a walk around my local water today and saw about seven floating fish, all carp. they were near the edge so i was able to lift them out, one was at least 9lbs. after talking to a bloke thats been fishing there a few days he told me that there were more the day before but the bailiff removed them. has this got somthing to do with them spawning, the weather or what?

it may be due to spawning...were the fish you seen dead spawn bound in any way..? another theory..as the place been stocked in recent weeks

:hmm: not sure if its just been stocked will have to find out.

Same thing happening along the water i fish mate. Ive been walking it for the last couple of weeks and have been noticing a few dead carp and a pike. I had a LONG chat with a fellow angler last night and he seemed to think it was people killing them  . My theory is it will be down to the fish being knackered from spawing coupled with the hot weather causing low oxygen levels within the water and a few just cant handle it causing them to die. Crying shame whatever the reason seeing decent sized fish just floating. They would make any anglers day. Joe

Edited to add: I dont think it will be anything to do with disease especially as its happeneing on various waters. I'd imagine if it was disease there would be more than just a few scattered about. I really hope that that isnt the cause anyway.

i know the water has had problems with disease in the past, but that was six or seven years ago and im sure its had no trouble since then.

Is there an algae bloom on the water(is the water looking a bit green/red)as this would do it.And to sort it if it is that, then just put barley bales all around the margins.

the water always looks green mate its a very weedy water, when i say weed i mean like wire weed, there are three waters in the complex but for some reason this one is by far the worst.the weeds been like that for years now and iv never seen that many fish die before, i was wondering will the number of fish in there have something to do with it?
