BS40liam 203
I've been introducing my pup to the new ferret the past week now and they seemed to get on fine through the bars of the cage. Put a bowl of milk down for each about 2 metres apart and gradualy moved closerover the course of couple days, but today the pup went up for a sniff and the gill latched herself to my pups nose! I usualy feed my ferret at 6pm but left it a bit longer tonight as to let the pup and fert interact 1st...maybe that's where I went wrong? What else can I do now tho to help them interact as after it happend the pup growld everytime she saw the gill which got me worried, and will the dog decover from this? Atb Quote Link to post
Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
I always used a steady hob as jills seem to be more tempermental but you might not have that option ATB Cookie Quote Link to post

derbylad1 293
yep same as. i had a patterdale that as a pup would annoy the shit out of the ferrets, til one bit him on the nads....total respect and fine ever since...lol Quote Link to post
terryd 8,727
Better too have the dog wary of the ferret they don't have too be the best of friends. You can never tell what a ferret is thinking so the dog just needs to be wary and keep out the way Edited September 25, 2012 by terryd Quote Link to post
derbylad1 293
yeah you can read what a dog might do...but never a ferret Quote Link to post
fay 75
put a muzzle on the ferret and see what happends just till they get use to eachh other Quote Link to post
Tug 168
put a muzzle on the ferret and see what happends just till they get use to eachh other For what possible reason would you do that? Best scenario is a dog that doesn't have any interest in the ferret - either through genuine concentration on the job at hand, or through a dislike ok getting bitten so it stays away. ps: Anyone that even owns a ferret muzzle is a cock. BS40liam 203
Can you even buy muzzles for ferrets lol! Quote Link to post
R.A.W 1,987
don't expect to much from them both. as long as the dog isn't to interested in the ferret then your half way there. ( just as tug said really). atb RAW Quote Link to post

The one 8,529
Best thing that could of happened mate your dog should respect your ferret now , it may seem a bit harsh but your dog only has a second to strike when a rabbits bolting so its got to make the right choice , rabbit not ferret Quote Link to post
BS40liam 203
Once I got my pup back this evening she was out in the back garden and avoided the hutch lol so I think she knows the score now Quote Link to post
