also gives summat to get hung up on when chasing into cover

if out with company i will put collars on the dogs otherwise i seldom use them, a mates cocker managed to hang itself in the back of his van after getting hooked up by its collar, thats not the reason

iv been out with a coupe of guys with those collers what a lot of hassle for them Jesus waist of time I think

When appropriate I can see why you wouldn't use a collar.

But when you're trying to pull an 80lb 1/2 X off a Deer / Horse / Sheep / Cow ............. Then I'd say you best hope you've got a good collar on it.

Those cartoons playing in your head are not real.

Is being a "dog man" something you aspire to be?
