oldred58 340
it seems to me that you and the dog needs a few years experience under tour belt before thinking of breeding Quote Link to post
kieren1 1
at 6 months of age and running hares....then your mad, you can kill a pup doing that. if it was an accident then fair enough. then last season the "pup" was out working twice a week..again your mad, you can over match her, break her confidence or teach her shiity traits, like yapping, jacking oh and yes...over compensating/overshooting. A good or great dog is made of good breeding, some is what is in the dogs head and the rest is how the dog is educated, brought on and entered into the field. breeding, let the bitch be what it is..."a pup", that is learning the ropes. i'll wouldn't dream of breeding from any botch (or dog for that matter) until it is properly tested and only you will know when that is. usually when you see the lurcher has reached its ceiling and its full potential. and only then think to yourself, do i really want this type of running dog again. if you do then great and breed....if not. look else where. what ever you decide..all the best for this season, because by the sounds of it your well and truly happy with her right now. now this comment here is a proper opinion, not telling people what to do with there stock but trying to say what they think is best for the stock, she was out young but she was always gonna be early cause how she is bred, shes never jacked or yapped while out, thanks Quote Link to post
kieren1 1
how old is this dog in question? she be yr and half far to young even next year atb that is proberly me writing it in wrong way she is yr and half now roughly prob 20 months Quote Link to post
kieren1 1
and to every one who has read this, people ask to much money for running dogs now days and half of them are no gd, im not after a dog to take out everynight, i love hunting and have been lamping from young age but sadly we all have to grow up, and i have other commintments like, my kids and my job, means i dont get to out out everynight, so just a dog for a bit of sport and enjoyment is what i want not a job that im gonna earn lots of £££s from breeding or from betting just a gd night out with a couple of mates Quote Link to post
jezza 126
how old is this dog in question? she be yr and half far to young even next year atb that is proberly me writing it in wrong way she is yr and half now roughly prob 20 months exactly, still way too young, dont see why you need anoter dog, if you're not going out that much and its not getting smashed up then whats the problem? completely pointless litter imo 1 Quote Link to post

Country Joe 1,411
Apart from being to young, the thing that would cause me concern, is your statement, not got the toughest feet in the World, especially if your looking to put in a cross that would improve feet. Feet are well up there, in Running Dogs, so i personally would not breed from a Dog or bitch that did not have good feet. There are plenty of good Bitches out there, of what ever cross you fancy, with a lot more experience in the field, and are 100% sound. Quote Link to post
Chid 6,488
should of had a litter out of her already, id put a good saluki, bull, bedlington, wheaten, whippet, collie, kelpie, deerhound, greyhound over her should have plenty of stamina from the saluki , good feet from the collie and kelpie not to mention the ease of training , plenty of fire from the terrier breeds , and make a good size because of the deerhound ... failing that id wait a couple of years while working her hard and also try finding a dog which you'd like a pup out of and go on your own opinions and not that of someone elses 1 Quote Link to post

FlyMyGirl 147
Am I missing something here you state you can only get out 2 nights a week because of the commitments of being an adult!! Then why the need for another dog?? I think 2 nights a week is not a challenge to any dog never mind having to spend that bitches working time bringing on a pup and working 2 dogs at once. Ideation 8,216
It's ok just wanting a pup for yourself and being happy enough etc, but what you going to do with the rest of them???? 1 Quote Link to post
johnny boy68 11,726
Seen that bitch run, aint seen too many dogs working cos i aint been in this game long but she's the quickest ive seen in a straight line, well trained and obedient. Runs straight down the lamp flat out from a massive slip every time. If a good proven dog with good feet and stamina was put across her id definitely have a pup. From what i understand from everything ive read on here, you can turn a half decent dog into a real good one with time and effort and a shit one into an average one aswell. if Hes been working dogs a while and shes the best youngun hes had and one of the best hes seen, then surely putting a proven dog across her with good feet and stamina aint taking too much of a risk?? Only give the pups to mates who you know will put the time and effort in No offence mate but you're opinion holds about as much weight as a ballon, you've got a yorkie x chihuahuh x whippet ffs. Wasn't the OP asking for ground to run because he's moved and can't get out anywhere in a thread the other day? why are you thinking about breeding when you've got no permission where you live now????? 3 Quote Link to post
