Want to build a website

Recommended Posts

Decided my business needs to join the 21st century, so i need a website, have looked at the people/sites offering everything under the sun. I am aware that there are ways of getting your site higher up the listings etc, purchasing domain names, Yellow pages are always offering to do it, but they get enough money a year out of me as it is.

So is there anyone out there with experience of this sort of thing, who could possibly point me in the right direction.

Thanks for looking, MT. :thumbs-up:

Hi there mole trapper, i would suggest that if you want to go down the route of DIY website design, then you should get yourself a copy of 'macromedia dreamweaver' or failing that 'microsoft frontpage', but the former is much better.

Be prepared to learn some stuff, a lot of stuff, it takes a while to get your head around working with code, BUT once you have learnt it, its like riding a bike.

Best way to start is to download a web page from somewhere (a simple web page to start with) and study its buildup, soon things will become apparent.

If you need a hand and i aint too busy then i will be glad to help out...

Hiya, I dont know what business you are in so I dont know what sort of site you would be needing but for your webspace I would recommend www.hostgator.com - their hosting packages are very good value, you get loads of bandwidth for a small amount each month and their online support is excellent. For buying domain names I use www.1and1.co.uk - you can get a co.uk site name for £1.99 a year (min 2 year) and their control panel features are excellent.

Give me a shout if you need anymore info

Good luck with the venture!
