rob190364 2,594
Anyone know of a decent spade that's either folding or is in sections so can fit in a large rucksack? I've tried two folding spades and they've both been shite beyond belief (i.e. bending very easily and not being sturdy when put up), both have be chucked in a hedge within 2 minutes of me using them. tegater 789
Glock make a great folding spade that I use sometimes which can be set at 3 different angles so it can be used as a spade, a shovel or a pick. It has an expendable polymer shaft with a heavy duty wood saw in handle. Can sometimes be found in ex army surplus. Great if you want to travel light. Will stick a pic up later if you want. pie-eater 377
I use one of these http://www.screwfix.com/p/roughneck-micro-shaft-round-point-shovel/53829 Not a folding shovel but it is small and light. Quote Link to post
Guest vin
I use one of these http://www.screwfix....nt-shovel/53829 Not a folding shovel but it is small and light. I wouldnt reccomend these as the only tool in the kit...but I have seen them getting plenty of use and they are a great little handy tool to have in yer rucksack..But I would invest in some sort of breaking bar if this is all your going to use. you cant beat the good old bulldog ferreting/cable laying/drain spade for good value...(its called different names depending on where you buy it) you can always shorten the shaft if its too long.
