'Antlers' are cast each year and re-grown, in terms of a red there's a few years difference between a young spiker and a 12 point royal. You'll see spikers & staggies in their first year with development primarily dependant on the food resources available. Never shot a red mate - if you've got some on your ground you're a lucky man and good luck to you. Quote Link to post

Never shot a red mate - if you've got some on your ground you're a lucky man and good luck to you. thanks for that mate , the reason i ask is because i live in east yorkshire and am 50 now , we only ever get roe round here but when feeding my duck pond saw some big deer prints . and when i looked down the headge line i could see 2 big deer., the big one was like a deep red coulor but the small one had like spots on , so when i asked a mate he said the small one could of been a young buck cos of the spots, but to be honest he dont know that much about deer so that is why i asked Quote Link to post
