As I was in the area this weekend I went along for a watch this morning.

Now I know the NLRC get some stick but I have to say that today was let down by the punters.

NLRC had picked a cracking venue, good ground and facilities with a nice long run. It was only open to qualified dogs so I was really disappointed with the numbers that turn up. 4 coursing, 4 under 23 and 8 over 23.

That said the racing was good and close, just not enough dogs, and I'm giving NLRC

Didn't hang around to find out who won what as I had to get home but well done to all.

if it had been more accessable[central] then more would have attended

I live very local so can't comment on the location regarding people who have to travel along way.. I suppose where ever it is located it will always be too far for many people  Also the price of fuel its an expensive day out these days.

Cheers CJ - We done some open racing there yesterday and was very similar on numbers for today.

There will be lots more events there Hopefully - I do some charity events there & I am sure the NRLC will like to use the venue again

just a wee query why don't you come north of the border ? there seems to be a strong interest in lurcher racing up here

Well done to all the winners and the organisers, I've been a member of the club since it's conception and every year it appears that most of their events are going further a field ( south ) there's very little in the north for members, once they ran very successful shows in the north east and Scotland, maybe the nucleus of members are now from southern areas which has resulted in the members championship moving further south each year and as Tom said the price of fuel governs the distance people are prepared to travel these days.

My dog qualified for both the coursing and under 23" straight racing but it is a 320 mile round trip to travel to Oxford and with fuel costs as they are I just couldnt afford it :( I attended the finals at pleasely last year and there were more racers there it would seem. I guess it is hard to find the ideal location for everyone but somewhere more middling would be nice ;)

Regards

Tina
