Casso 1,261
Hi I am desperate for help on stopping my dog barking in the kennel and in the house at times they are only kenneled in the day and separate I have 2 dogs one is a lurcher the other is a staffy it's the staffy who is the main one I've tried a shock collar but it's not working! Next door have now complained to my landlord any help is much appricated Thanks Neil get the mutt on a tug item, put a long lead on the staff, get her tugging on the item and when she pulling really hard let the mutt win, reel her in and repeat for ten minutes, the winning gives the dog a sense of achievement and a way of overcoming resistance in its daily life, if you think about it dogs in the wild are meant to overcome huge resistance on a regular basis, wolves in the wild overcome massive resistance in taking down an elk or similar prey every dog needs to de stress in some form and in doing so they dont get bogged down by the normal shite which pet dogs use to release energy such as barking at trivial items (constant barking is a way of stress relief, releasing energy) i teach all my dogs to bark on command , it cuts out barking at other times, best of luck
paulus 26
as topper says micky muzzle, if it carnt open its gob it carnt bark, mind brown tape is cheaper but bold snouted dogs give the game away

Casso 1,261
Thanks guys casso you mention stress relief / burn off energy at the moment the get a hours walk at 5 am and an hours walk at half 5 6ish at night could this not be enough? Also we take the same route could this be boring them? Thanks if a dog doesn't love to bite, then he needs to bite walking is fine for keeping fit but it does n;t negate the thousands of years of evolution in the mutt which has programmed him to achieve a goal in whatever form on a regular basis, its the sense of achievement through using its Drive to overcome resistance that satisfies the tension(stress) in every dog, if we really look at dogs , they are forever trying to achieve something in whatever form that may take and in most cases it ends with them getting their jaws around something, the tug item is a quick fix to achieve the same goal, when a dog likes to tug he gets the same sense of achievement inside the same feeling of grounding , thats basically what it is , it gives the dog a sense of fulfillment, best of luck, pm if stuck
