Zero range 17hmr............

Recommended Posts

When I first got my 17hmr I zeroed it at 30 yards and it was spot on at most ranges but recently I changed scope and zeroed for 50 yards, now anything near I tend to cut its throat but anything say 60-130 its spot on. What do you fella's zero yours for?.....................

I zero my hmr at 100 yards which gives me fairly flat shooting (within a pound coin) from 30 to 110 yards. It comes out an inch low at 125 yards (generally my limit). 2" low at 140 yards and 3" low at 150 by which time the bullet is dropping rapidly although still has a lot of energy.

Get a copy of "Hawke Chairgun Pro" (free pc computer software) as that will give a clear indication (graph) of trajectory and help you choose an appropriate zero point for your personal setup.

when i first got my hmr i went on a site (unsure which one sorry) a ballistic site and their tip was to zero it @35 yrd as the bullet re zeros @125 ish so you have a great scope for close to long range shots ,ive done this for 3 yrs and my rifle has had some great results ,from close range squirrel bashing to longe range corvid shooting
