Steveclark 9
This is coming from a novice lamper (and on who doen't believe everything my mate tells me) Just wondering if the weather that is being forecast for the South of the country tonight could be too bad for a good nights lamping. I know wind and rain is the ideal conditions but can the rain be too heavy. Got an hours travel to my permission so I don't want a wasted journey. What you guys think? You gonna be out tonight in the South West? Cheers Steve Quote Link to post
Tiercel 6,986
You will get a lot of different answers to that question. I have lamped during rain and done very well. I have also lamped during rain and done terrible, with no rabbits out. Over the years long netting and lamping I have found the the weather in the previous few days will play a part in wether the rabbits are out feeding or not. If the weather has been wet for a few days previous I have found that more rabbits are out feeding than if there has been a dry spell when they could feed when they wanted to. Another time I have found lots of rabbits out feeding during rain is if it comes to rain after the rabbits are out feeding, it seems as if they say well I am wet now, so I might as well stay wet. These are just my findings. One thing is for certain though, you wont catch any sitting at a computer. TC 4 Quote Link to post
Sirius 1,391
Heavy rain I never really find to be much good. But if you have a day where it's rained all day and them clears or drizzles, and the winds still there it's generally a good night. Tonight might be worth a go as the cloud will be there to cover the waxing moon. Quote Link to post
NEWKID 27,732
Think conditions could be pretty good later, the rains slowing up and we're supposed to be getting some wind too. Got soaked this morning with the ferrets and I think I'll be getting wet later Quote Link to post
paulus 26
the good thing about wind and rain is most people even if they see a lamp wont bother to go and investigate if its too bad 1 Quote Link to post
