Maximus Ferret 2,063
I used a car spot with part of a wooden tent peg for the handle and a bell push for the switch. The bell push was handy for flicking on and off instead of rocking the lamp. It all worked well enough but what I miss most from those days is the darkness. Everyone didn't have great big feck off yard lights that they left on all night like they do now. Light pollution really pisses me off . Quote Link to post

I told him ; no I only ran day time hares with him. My first lamping dog was a Saluki type, "Tic", around 70/72 when they were fairly unknown around here, Salukis and lamping !! LOL !! It was just as "hot" in them days, and I have just as much permission now, as I had then !! LOL !! Cheers. Quote Link to post
talt 878
an old cibie spotlight on a broom handle with a loud clicky flip switch and car battery in a rucksack. I later "progressed" to a quartz fire handheld spot lamp. The best thing i ever did was drop it and break the glass the beam was a lot better without it! Quote Link to post
Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
I first started going with a chap of my farm I work on in mid 80s I was young only 10 or so I had no chance of carrying a fecking car battery his dog had saluki in it we spent most of the night not lamping but chasing the fecker around Thats when my love affair started with running dogs luckly our farm was nearly 3000 acres which we had free run the worst thing is it was infested with bared wire from old fences that had been rolled up into balls . It was bliss up there sadly I dont work that land anymore ATB Cookie Quote Link to post

trigger2 3,145
when i first started out i used a LR6 with a copper handle on it which was heavily tape'd up. i had that connected to a motorbike battery in a little wooden box with car seatbelt for a strap. had a matchstick broke off in the breather on the battery to stop the acid leaking all over the place. 2 Quote Link to post
