Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
Well after reading the ton bag thread it got me thinking it was not that long ago that we all lamped with home made setups. Well when I first lamped with a guy for first time he humped a huge car battery with croc clips on super oscar stop light . None of this fancy lightforce lightweight modern stuff. Whats your memories of early lamping ATB Cookie Quote Link to post

Guest bezza
I started late seventies with a car headlight and a car battery . No sealed bateries then either. Often used to get burned with acid and ruin my clothes with it. After a trip i would put the battery back in the car to go home. Quite often I'd deplete the charge and have to walk home with the battery to charge it up again. Great times. 1 Quote Link to post
morton 5,368
Wipac lamp, bean tin taped to the middle and a 2nd hand motorbike battery with more white cells than grey, coats, trousers and bags destroyed with acid and scars on the back of the legs through spillage climbing walls.I can clearly remember lying in a puddle of water one cold winters night, trying to stop the burning on the calfs through spillage,i thought i had a sweat itch from my arse to my ankles, until the soreness and cracked battery alerted me otherwise, happy days. 1 Quote Link to post

stormyboy 1,352
Early 70's used Lucas lr sealed beam spotlight. After many ruined jackets, Bolted a seatbelt onto a plastic gallon oil container to carry the battery-no more acid burns! Still use it. Quote Link to post
cocker 2,654
car spotlight, with glass taken out, home made handle, with a doorbell button/switch,12 volt lead acid motorbike battery in a 5ltr plastic container with the top cut off (kia ora orange juice containers) and a car seat belt for the shoulder strap, crocodile clips to the lamp wires, loads of trousers and coats fell to bits, due to the acid, but it all worked well. caught as much gear in the 70s with that, and a unknown breeding lurcher. as i would now with a £300 lithium and light force outfit Edited September 22, 2012 by cocker 4 Quote Link to post
