wilbur foxhound 480
i spent a small fortune on dog collars because i was fed up having to bail out hounds from kennels at £50 a go and the b*****ds chewed them of each other, lol 2 Quote Link to post
terrier410 53
i got some brass tags etched with my phone number on from ebay and riveted them them to nylon ancol collars and always put them on them when we go out and have been phoned many times to pick up a lost beagle so they do work 1 Quote Link to post

wilbur foxhound 480
i was watching a hound on its way back to the horn one day,it was about 3/4 of a mile away comming in quite steadily it crossed a road and was struggling to cross the fence towards me when a car stopped and put it in the car and took it to the pound, another £50 out of pocket 1 Quote Link to post
alimac 882
Collars on foxhounds, lol. 2 Quote Link to post
R.A.W 1,987
alimac i know it's not traditional to put colllars on hounds but if it saves hours loooking for a lost hound thats curles up in someones car or £50 at the pound. a collar it has to be. the reason i asked the quetion is to find out if someone has come up with an in genius alterative. i only have a small pack and would be gutted if i lost one. 1 Quote Link to post

R.A.W 1,987
when the general public see a little beagle out on it's own the last place they look is for a tatto. i can see the advantages of a tattoo.how much would it cost? the local tatto palour wouldn't be happy if walked in with the dogs and askes for a load of spiders webs and anchors lol   Quote Link to post
alimac 882
It would be more of a concern it got hung up, but not my hounds so not my choice 2 Quote Link to post
Coyotehunter 689
We use telemetry tacking collars on all hounds which also have the kennels address on, I've never lost a hound yet or had one hung up, the trackers are brilliant, I remember back at home losing a hound a you'd go and blow with the hunting horn for hours and try all the places you last saw it or wait for a phone call of a sighting, the tracking collars eliminate all that messing around, the batteries are good for 8000 hrs so you don't have the problem of the battery running out before you find them, which can be a problem with the GPS systems, the downside is there expensive, collars run around 60 quid a piece and the unit itself is about a little over 350 quid but that's just 7 hounds in the pound before your ahead of the game Edited September 25, 2012 by Coyotehunter Quote Link to post
terrier410 53
never had a beagle hung up but they do tend to go under or around rather than over unless a bitch is in season then the fckrs will climb over anything 2 Quote Link to post
