alimac i know it's not traditional to put colllars on hounds but if it saves hours loooking for a lost hound thats curles up in someones car or £50 at the pound. a collar it has to be. the reason i asked the quetion is to find out if someone has come up with an in genius alterative. i only have a small pack and would be gutted if i lost one.

when the general public see a little beagle out on it's own the last place they look is for a tatto. i can see the advantages of a tattoo.how much would it cost? the local tatto palour wouldn't be happy if walked in with the dogs and askes for a load of spiders webs and anchors lol

We use telemetry tacking collars on all hounds which also have the kennels address on, I've never lost a hound yet or had one hung up, the trackers are brilliant, I remember back at home losing a hound a you'd go and blow with the hunting horn for hours and try all the places you last saw it or wait for a phone call of a sighting, the tracking collars eliminate all that messing around, the batteries are good for 8000 hrs so you don't have the problem of the battery running out before you find them, which can be a problem with the GPS systems, the downside is there expensive, collars run around 60 quid a piece and the unit itself is about a little over 350 quid but that's just 7 hounds in the pound :) before your ahead of the game

Buy a tattooing kit.

Most MFHA packs use them.
