It's a fascinating project and well worth the effort in my opinion, but like I said, not for the faint hearted. Mines a .22 doing 11.8 with accupells/crosman premier ultra magnums. A couple of coils off the hammer spring should bring her to a more efficient and comfortable safety margin. I can email some pics if your interested.

I did a service on a TX200 not so long ago that had never before been stripped and there was no lube at all in the thing. It twanged like a Spanish BSA!!

As a stop-gap with the Gamo, the trigger is pretty easy to modify. If you take off the trigger guard and lift out the action, you will probably find that the Gamo "first stage" is actually an L-shaped spring that the trigger compresses against the trigger housing. You can safely remove this spring completely -- it's just a false first stage to make the trigger travel longer, thus avoiding accidental firing.

 

What you now have is a trigger that is held forward by the sear. As you pull the trigger, the trigger rotates around a pin, and another pin that runs through the back of the trigger puts pressure on the sear until it releases -- you can see this happening with the action out and the rifle uncocked (obviously). If you find that the trigger pull weight is still too much, you can push out the pin that contacts the sear and slide a small metal washer or two over the pin, inside the body of the trigger, so that the washer actually moves the sear, rather than the pin. This effectively increases the size of the pin and reduces the trigger pull. If the washers are too wide, the rifle won't cock, so replace them with smaller washers.

 

I've done this on a Gamo Shadow, Gamo Hunter Extreme and Crosman Nitro Venom, and in each case it produces a trigger with a fast and smooth first stage, followed by a crisp and predictable second stage, with a much lighter pull. It transformed these rifles from dogs into nice shooters.
