chook1 184
Bear in mind you need permission from the cops to put a camera up externally. (possibly only if it can look onto public land ) Not 100% about this but know a couple who have had KB`s from the cops about putting them up ATB that can't be right surely, if it's not illegal to film/take pics in a public place how on earth can they say it's illegal to have CCTV without permission? after all, it's exactly the same concept, just a different type of camera that happens to be in a fixed position, isn't it? I would have though it's only an issue if it's facing someone elses private property? i.e. if you have it on your house but it also covers part of your neighbours garden? No you dont need permission from the cops to have cctv up - you do need your neighbours permission if it will affect them in any way shape or form. I have cctv up at the front of my house, as the street was having problems with local kids causeing trouble, the cops know its up as i told them i was getting it installed, my neighbours are also quite happy for it to be up even though its recording parts of their front garden and the street, its been up a year now recording 24/7 have had no complaints from anyone so far. Waz 4,274
I fit CCTV for a living if any of you need a bit if info Willum, Id like to get a camera onto a bit of land, its about 50 metres from the house with someone elses house in between, theres no power down there. So..Can I run a remote camera from a solar panel and battery and send it wireless to the receiver? Cheers.
willum 89
It would be a possibility but to be honest wireless CCTV is shite at the best of times personally I would steer clear unless it's the only option you have there is a wireless system that we use where you have a 12v supplied transmitter and receiver so there could be a chance you could run it of a large leisure bat for the transmitter then you hard wire the cam to that aswell they run on 2.4 and 5 ghz but you can pair them up and they lock onto each other so don't loose signal to routers and other wi if products . But if you could run a low volt cable down to where you need it I would . There is cable that we call shot gun that has the coax and power together. So basically it's only 1 cable your running to .atb
Waz 4,274
Ive got a straight line of view from the apex of the building but its 50-55 meters any long range cctv cameras about?
willum 89
No not really mate the only option would be a metal housing with a separate camera in side and a vari focal lens but what you gain in depth you loosen width and a lens for that distance wou Don't be cheap maybe around the 50 pound mark upwards and you will struggle aswell to get IRS for that distance unless you had a 240 volt operated ir spot lamp it may just get about that far but the bulbs ar like the old mini head lamps don't last that long and ar pricey no chance you could drop a bottle off for your neighbour and run the cable across their And ? Waz 4,274
Ok thanks. Running the cable across theirs is a BIG no no... Ive got some solar pir lamps that ill put on the bit I want to keep an eye on with the camera. Thanks for answering.
willum 89
If not you could get a trail cam running on a sd card they take a 8 bats and if set to camera photo type you can get 1000 images on it motion triggered with IRS on it aswell the images are crystal. Clear al you have to get is a card reader for your pc to down load them to we got some on the shot they are not that cheap but worth it if you can't cable it
willum 89
Also there is a new security light out that has a sd card camera built in on it sow he. The light is triggered it takes a picture aswell if that's any good to anyone
