I wouldn't go for wireless if your using a wireless network for your broadband and most camera's use the same frequency and will reduce your broadband to a snails pace. I have a wired system with a 1tb dvr. You only get what you pay for with the camera's, my mate fitted me 30m camera's you can see well over 30 metres and the quality is amazing.

You can have a CCTV. System in your or on your property as long as it doesn't look into neighbours house garden or any other public area and you have to have a sign up stating that CCTV is in operation with on your grounds as part of the data protection act . 1 being a warning that' it's in use and 2 if anything was caught on your system and it went to court it could be thrown out as in submiciable evidence due to the offendent not be made aware ofcctv in operation in the area . And as already been said you only get what you pay for in CCTV terms for a reasonable quality 4 cam system installed would be around the grand mark hope this helps all
