Hello,

I've joined this site as i have just rehomed a dog from the local Rescue Kennels. She was described as a Greyhound but as I have had dogs all my life I knew she was a Lurcher, because she's got a very slightly broader head, shorter muzzle and slight feathering on her tail.Apart from that she has pure Greyhound build.

I got her as a companion for my Dobermann who is really docile and missing her sister who died recently. She has fitted in really well, not food agressive, fine with other dogs, sleeps most of the day,and loverly with my little Grandson.doesnt like cats though!

I tried her out with recall in the garden for a couple of weeks to get her used to her new name and was suprised at how well she responded, came back straight away & stood at heel. On walks on the lead she is great, no pulling at all, as good as my Dobe who I consider to be really well trained. One other thing i noticed in the garden was that she would retrieve to hand. Amazing!

I now let her off on walks with the Dobe, and she runs rings around her, comes back when called and loves to pick up and carry plastic bottles.

Where I live there are loads of rabbits about, I noticed that she uses her nose a lot and casts about for holes and runs in the long grass.

I reckon she must have been trained to work & would love to give her a go. If anyone has permission in the Tyneside area and can help out I would really appreciate the chance.
