Wildfowler 1
If you can get hold of one try a OLT800
remi700 99
The easiest to use are flute calls but you'll be very limited in the sounds you can make. There are thousands of short reeds on the market now and if you learn how to blow them they will all do the job. Polycarbonate (moulded plastic) or wooden calls are the cheapest. Acrylic calls are hard turned and cost much more but they do have a very sharp crack to them. For my money Zinc PC1, Buck Gardner honker hammer, Primos honkey tonk are all worth a go.Atb Mark

Goose vocabulary isn't exactly diverse. A guy can easily do well with just a cluck and moan.
Aaron Proffitt 142
Hi just a quick one. Do goose calls make geese land that are flying over head. It adds to the scenario ,quagmire. You notice when a flock is on the ground and another flock flies to join them ,how the ground flock gets real vocal ? They aren't inviting them; they're bitching at them . Geese are territorial that way. So , if a flock of geese is coming in to join your decoys and don't hear anything it makes things seem out of whack. Suspect.
remi700 99
If you can get to where the geese want to feed you can shoot all the geese you'd ever want with no calls or decoys. Decoys will help to pull the geese to where you need them (ie close to cover for hides) calls help to fill out the picture and make the scene more realistic but if you don't no where the geese want to be your wasting your time. At times geese are very vocal and at other times they wont make a sound, this can give you a good idea as to how settled they are where they are feeding, vocal geese are happy geese. Geese make a huge array of honks moans and clucks. Although early in the season you will get away with simple calling when it comes to December and January working with resident geese that have seen it all before it helps to have something else to show them. It will really be worth your while to learn to blow a short reed.
