GruffaloGriff 1,859
Got an aas410 and want to mount a hawke sport hd 3x9x50 scope on it. Been offered medium or high mounts. Which do i go for? Anyone else got this set up? Griff Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Go for the mounts that keep the scope as low on the action as possible that will allow you to adjust the parralax ring without scratching it agains the action. I believe mine are High mounts at about 2inches from foot to top. Hope that helps. Tony 1 Quote Link to post

GruffaloGriff 1,859
medium did mine with a hawke sport scope with 50mm lense because the barrel is skinny Still plenty of clearance to get the10 shot mag in & out ok? Any measurement of your mount you could give me would be really helpfull so i have a size to give the guy to check on the mounts he has on offer. Quote Link to post
Paul the hunter 0
Mine is a Hawke panorama 4-12x50AO and it fits fine on high mounts with about 1cm to the top of the mag Quote Link to post

fry 209
got the scope on a pro sport now but here is a pic of it on the 410 with medium mounts it cleared the mag and the barrel easy Quote Link to post
GruffaloGriff 1,859
Thanks Fry the mediums look fine. The guy did me a good deal on a set of each medium & high. It will save me the disappointment of getting them only to find they don't work and have to wait another week to get set up. I can keep the surplus set as a spare or pass them on. Thanks to all for the advice. Griff Quote Link to post
ghillies 209
primarily keep it low as the end allows.. but what distances you going to use it for, hi mounts for the past the 30 yards.. low for the closer in end. edit,,, better still have a ganders on chairgun see which you like. GruffaloGriff 1,859
Thanks all, mounts arrived today and got set up fine with the mediums, clears the mag fine as you said Fry. Gillis -30 yards is about my max. With the scope set at 3 i put 10 shots through the paper all touching at 15 yards. Set the scope at 6 and all 10 shots at 30 yards in a 5p size group. That will do me fine for now. I hasten to add that was inside with gun resting on a pad for setting up the scope, hunting i generally shoot free standing which isn't nearly so accurate so rarely shoot over 30 yards. ghillies 209
if it works then its sorted find you center if the standing not as good mate.. (a bit of mustle mass helps too tbh). Edited September 24, 2012 by ghillies Quote Link to post
