lots of stoats and weasels round here, often see stoats hunting above ground and the weasels get after the mice in the fodder sheds. love them, would love to get hold of a tiny baby stoat or weasel and see if i could raise it as a pet. not many mink round here, but seeing a few polecats from time to time now

was ferreting yesterday to get the kits up n running. had a stoat chase a young rabbit towards us dog had a quick go at the stoat, then opted to take the rabbit instead. the stoat went into the sett i was doin, i got the kits out but the mother was still down. after 5mins out popped the stoat, saw the dog and down another hole. the jill had been on it as she popped out straight behind it. bolted it once more hole to hole and brought the jill out. the dog didnt wana leave the set when we moved on. this was in exactly the same place we took a rabbit off a stoat in my previous post.

i dont think i will ever get used to just how fast they are, it chased and caught a half grown rabbit over 70+ yards before the dog realised what was happening. i had heard a squeal and seen a flash of them about a minute before they ran over the open ground from the hedged boundary to this middle of field sett.
