what do you use for bedding

Old, or even new, duvet's are crap ! They hold moisture and the dogs tear them to shreds !! If your kennel is draught proof, water proof, and insulated enough, you should need nothing more than a raised bed and some old carpet ! Carpet samples can be got for free from all carpet shops or carpet fitters. The main point is DRY & DRAUGHT FREE !! Most dogs are tougher than we think, and prefer a decent kennel, than being in the house !

Chid; there's some VERY well known people from this site have had their dogs in my kennels, and no complaints, (also had a few of thier dogs in my house and bedrooms, and no complaints from me !!) !! If a dog is good enough to graft.... it;s good enough to be well looked after !!

not sure why your having a pop at me; but no, I've never had Whins dogs in my Kennels, but I've met the man, and him and his dogs are welcome here any time, as I'm sure he knows !! And, of course, no ones dogs are any better than anyone elses as far as kenneling goes, but my point was that you don't need fancy kennels... just warm, draught free ones... and some decent dog lads and lasses have had their dogs in mine, with no complaints ! So if you have a problem with me, just pm me; don't spoil what could be a decent thread !

It's in a big compresses bale mate, when I got mine the price varied from 6 quid to a tenner I think depending on size. Got it from the grey track.

Old man has used waxed paper for the greyhounds and terriers without problems for years other than the old terrier taking a fancy to eating it lol, wouldnt have thought straw or shavings is going to do yours dogs respirartory system any good to be fair in an enclosed space like a kennel cheers.

Mine haven't started eating it yet but the lurcher does some interesting turds after he's been eating the ply and polystyrene I lined his kennel with, you'd think passing splinters would stop him doing it.

we used shavings, the same type that are used in stables, medicated and dust free, i have used other types of stable bedding, shredded paper, hemcore, shredded cardboard, but find i shavings the best, all liquids drain to the bottom layer we have a bitch who will not pee on concrete so i skip the kennel out twice daily, and replace dirty shavings, i put a plank across the doorway which tends to keep the shaving back and try to keep the bedding at least 3" thick, although in winter i do have it thicker, and bank it up against the walls the dogs make themselves "nests" in the corners and always seem snuggly and warm,

Nothing in summer an nothing yet they get old clothes in winter but tend to just rag them about an use them as toys more than bedding they all have a wooden box in there kennel raised off the floor pretty cosey Evan in the coldest weather my Russell bitch has straw as she seems to feel the cold but my old lurcher sleeps on top of his box no matter the weather and watches the ferrets in the court

I used waxed paper, it's pretty good besides blocking the drains every few months then I have to get Dyno Rod out to jet them which does my f*****g head in!!!! I've tried duvets etc in the past but they always seemed damp. The lads who use duvets, ok you dry your dog before you put them away like all decent dog lads would but what do you do when they are walking in and out from a wet run floor? Or have you trained them to wipe their feet? Lol
