Guest long-tail
used straw for years but recently decided their coats look shite with the dust it creates so just found a supplier of shredded paper a lot cleaner imo Quote Link to post
chartpolski 23,677
Old, or even new, duvet's are crap ! They hold moisture and the dogs tear them to shreds !! If your kennel is draught proof, water proof, and insulated enough, you should need nothing more than a raised bed and some old carpet ! Carpet samples can be got for free from all carpet shops or carpet fitters. The main point is DRY & DRAUGHT FREE !! Most dogs are tougher than we think, and prefer a decent kennel, than being in the house ! Cheers. 3 Quote Link to post

Duvets do hold water,,,, of course you can dry the dog befor you kennel them to solve that problem,,, they will shred them given chance ,,, but it best to have a duvet cover on them this certainly helps with mine,,,, Duvets 2.50 from ikea.... 1 Quote Link to post

If a dog is good enough to graft.... it;s good enough to be well looked after !! Cheers. 1 Quote Link to post
bedwhippet 164
sponge from my old couch cushions chopped up at the minute but they just rip it to bits and ends up in the yard, the 3 big ones sleep together and keep themselves warm, winter time depends on how bad the weather is,, if its too extreme they will be in the kitchen with a couple of old duvets and back out throughthe day, if you havent gt the luxury of heated kennels you can only give them what you have, Quote Link to post

gnipper 6,475
Waxed paper here too, cheap as chips and the dogs like it. Not as much mess as shavings either. I used carpet one time and one of the dogs got friction burns from trying to scratch it up comfier. Quote Link to post
