Bosun11 537
These boots look the nuts to me and i've never heard a bad word said about 'em (the link is the first googled up so not the best). Might try these one day and as an import the price usually is good. http://www.shopping.com/Irish-Setter-860-Elk-Tracker/info?sb=1 Though my next boot is gonna be these beasts. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/store/product/6-meindl-glockner-boots/

dorianbuilders 0
Anybody using the new type Black Islanders yet? Picked a pair up at weekend.
burnie69 376
I've had 3 pairs of meindl all lasting 2-3 seasons 1 pair of hanwag and to be frank they never lasted a season.I bought a pair of black islander last sept and there crap wouldn't have another pair. This season i've gone for the harkila pro hunter gtx and 1st day beating monday i wasn't impressed.I'd be surprised if they last a season.Next time i'm gonna go back to meindl but as someone said you've got to look after the leather or they crack very quickly also i always use gaitors with my boots i use the black islander 1's and apart from being more money they seem to last 3-4 seasons beating more than i can say for the boots. Strong Stuff 2,171
My lowas leeked after 6 month , just got some called han wag see how these go anyone else got these ? I'd hope you sent them back? What was the customer service like? As for the original question, best boots for you are the ones that fit comfortably, don't leak and are at a price you're happy with

burnie69 376
Spot on thanks mate very comfy from the start pity there the wrong style for shootdays or i'd wear em.They should last me years. As for me commenting on the black islander boots there's 4 of us who all where em and none of us saud we'd have another pair we all had meindl's before and all said we'll go back to em.the black islander's all seem to go weak around the back of the ankle very quickly and leak water where the lace buckles are no matter what you use on em. B.P.R 2,798
Not read the whole thread. Just throwing my 2 pence worth in. For me, there's only 3 boots I would consider buying with my own money. Lowa Meindl Altberg Lows mountain are one TOUGH boot! Don't get the GTX one as once they're wet, they are WET. Mine have took some Stick for around 5 years, Chewed off the pup and if I'm honest I don't look After them at all. A bit of polish if I Can be bothered one hasn't got an insole in it and I'm out in the field with it. Comfy as fcuk Heavier though. ALTBERG are the bees. 4 years I've had my Pair, they're on 5 days a week, hot climate, cold climate and everything in between. Got measured for them and due to go back soon for a new pair. I would recommend the 'warrior' boot or the 'sneeker'. I've had both. There's many imitations out there, 'webTex' is just and example off the top of my head. Had a pair for 2 weeks and left them In a ditch somewhere. You won't go wrong with a pair of altberg, or lowas
