Hello all,

I've got my trusty Aigle wellies..and they are great.

But Ive been struggling with my boots.. Last pair I got were the Harkila gtx pro 10" and they have lasted half a season and are already leaking water. . .Im sendeng them back, but i've been told there now made in china and of shit quality.

I'm in need of a new pair and wondered what next. . .?

My mate likes the Meindl and they have lasted a while so far with no probs...but other mates say there not so good...?

I've been reccomended the Lowas and told they can last the distance and some hard graft..Also the british Army version of the Lowas gortex lined etc etc but not genuine lowa's ? any clues ?

Has anyone got any info ? Im not arsed about labels/name tags etc etc ..just the quality of build and the ability to stand up to some graft.

Nowt worse than wet feet on a long walk.

atb

Vin

Meindl - but you need to take proper care of them, they're not wellies.

go altberg vinny, keep ye pounds in england

I'd hope you sent them back?   What was the customer service like?   As for the original question, best boots for you are the ones that fit comfortably, don't leak and are at a price you're happy

i think most of the good boots are as good as each other, some got better support, some look better but if ye buying a pair of boots an want a good pair ye will be paying around 200, lowa's are good an i never had any complaints with mine, i never had meindles personally but i know a few that wear em regular an swear by em, i tried altbergs in the army an was really pleased with them, so when my trusty ole lowa's geed up the ghost i went an tried another pair of altberg, i wear em now an think they are good as any iv had before, my lamping buddy had them harkila yins oot johnnorris on special offer tho, they wasnae full leather an they are kafookered now, wheras my altbergs i got at same time are still like new :D

Lowa mountain are excellant boots, tried and tested, ive also got a pair of Meindl Makula, proper solid boot, rigid though, but very comfortable, also got a pair of lennons fell boots, some love, some hate, now me personally, I love them.

What do you want them for?

I would go with a trusted make like Lowa, not saying others aint reccomended, but with all the materials changing on some brands, then go for whats the most rated.

As said ive never heard a bad word said.

Look about, and you will pick up a pair for about 135 upwards.

Why try all the fancy makes like harkila, seeland etc when you will always be thinking are these boots gonna last the day ahead.

ATB Ripstop.

IF you buy a pair of Lowas/meindle/Altberg etc etc off the shelf/online etc -do you go for same as your normal shoe size or a larger size. .? I found the Harkilas a bit tight in my shoe size and buy the end of a long day couldnt wait to get em off. . .I can wear mi Wellies all day and night...lol.
