Ferret Cage

Would this be ok for 2 ferrets or would it fall apart in about a week.

Was thinking of putting a ply base at the bottom so there will be no grass.

We passed pets world and they had those cages at the front door i put my hand flat on the floor and pushed it gave enough to let a ferret out so me personally i wouldn't touch them

What about if i was to put some extra catches on the doors to stop them pushing them open

It was the floors mate lucky if the ply was 5mm thick there built so cheaply they wont last

Ive got a simlar one. from pets at home cost me 100 quid a few years back. Only thing is you need to lather it in fence paint every year. Ive varnished mine

as the wood seems to peal. I also have it covered in tarp at the back.

 

Its not big enough on its own, ferrets need space. Ive just built a run for mine.

If your wanting an hutch a 5ft hutch or bigger would be best.

I used one of these for a few years to house three hobs, never had any issues, it was decent enough quality alhtough it was housed within a large shed on hard standing (better than pet store hutches) and has a decent ammount of space, you can also easily extend the run, by buliding your own extra or buy them online for about £20. As already said Ferrets need plenty of room, Cheers

Have you had a look on gumtree or ebay? Some times there are some good 2nd hand ones that people have made or a chicken coop. If you are only having a couple of ferrets a chicken coop would be fine for them-

I've just moved my ferret this evening from a rabbit hutch to my old chicken apen with a large run and she's a different character already! The bigger the cage the better!
