Good pic that.... Remember my Grandad telling me the only time he felt sorry for a fox was when he snared a vixen and she had the litter in the snare.

One by one I carefully prised each baby from the teats, gave them a little cuddle before placing them in the warmest, cosiest place I could think of at the time (actually it was the second warmest place, as I'm quite attached to my tackle and would prefer to stay that way ).

 

After checking the rest of the traps I quickly headed home and made a little nest from some bedsheets, placed all the little babies inside and put them in the airing cupboard.

I got some baby milk from the chemists, and made up several little bottles which I've been feeding to them at hourly intervals day and night.

If all goes well I'll be releasing them back into the wild in a couple of weeks, so they can live out their lives in peace and harmony with all the rest of Gods little creatures..............

I don't think anyone will have a problem with that but it is a fairly poignant picture IMO

Agree a rats a rat IMO and that image doesn't bother me, "but" I think others might find it distasteful in this section of the forum, get it moved to the trapping & snaring section.

I once discovered a litter of kittens in the cemetery my Nan is buried in - the mother had been hit by a car, and two kittens feeding off her dead body I spent a couple of hours barefoot in the cemetery, armed with tinned cat food and a blanket; crept up on them and finally caught them. They were totally wild, even at the age of about 5 weeks. Took them home, fed them, socialised them and rehomed them. Still, I'll never get the image of them feeding off her like that out of my head.

 

Very interesting to see. Survival at it's most gruesome.

Didn't mean it like that, after all a photo that can induce emotion is like a work of art.

 

The pic is of good quality but the subject matter is the issue if you know what I mean, like the diffence between a crap pic of a glorious sunset, or a good pic of an "ordinary" sunset, if that makes any sense

 

Not ab bit bothered about the rats but, as in Lurcher Girl's last post, it does make you think

The first photo made me think. A very powerful image. The last picture left me cold, it seemed to me like a trophy.

 

Although, taken as a pair they told a story.

 

Just my take.
