Vet staples

Recommended Posts

Staples tear out of the skin easily so you have to rest the dog after depending on where the wound is. If you staple wounds yourself make sure you get the right tool for removing staples later!

dont like staplers vet put them in instead of stiches only a few stayed in so the bitch was out for longer

I Have obtained a stapler from bootsha (from here)

but I am still concerned about the pain so I am thinking of using

the freeze spray that they use for body piercing

What I want to know is can this be sprayed on the wound.

in case some got on it.

Cheers

Sam

I wouldnt worry too much about the pain mate, its not that bad. I stabbed myself just above the knee Tuesday with a dirty shitty knife gutting rabbits, and Socks off here stuck 2 stitches in me after a quick glug of water. Jobs a good`un, healing well and chasing rabbits next day.

I'm gonna get Ken to come round and put a couple in our lasses lady garden....Or maybe just get him to sew a donkeys cock on me instead... .

He's a bit good with the needle and thread.

Ha Ha Ha.

Fellah try it in your arm first thats what i done just too see how it worked and how sore it was... It dont stick in as you think it just clamps the shin together too heal the wound...

Like anything make sure its clean, Theres nothing in the wound if so get a syrindge it out, I always use a little manicure shaver set too trim the hair away from the wound, And start too close the wound up as neat as you can and i always leave a little drainage hole at the bottom just so it can letch out if it wants. And just purple spray the full thing when finished. And leave too heal maybe with a squrit of purple spray here and there..

After youve done it a few times it will be nothing too you....

DON'T use freeze spray on open wounds :nono:

Clean the wound as decribed previously and make sure everything is as tidy as poss. and then use the stapler.

Most of them come with a staple removing tool when you buy them.

Once you've opend the sealed packet they come in, keep it all in a clean vacuum/zip seal bag or similar.

HTH.

Cheers, D.

Very true mate.........i would say that if you have to travel any distance for a run, then a well stocked first aid box is almost as important as taking your dog.

Its well worth it.
