Kev91 0
I have a friend qho makes nets out of garden twine and this is quite thick but he assured me they would not tangle and would be very strong.surely the rabbit will see the nets will this make a difference? Quote Link to post
The one 8,494
Garden twines crap mate get it wet and next time you might burst a mesh and the rabbits away . ive never liked heavy nets if for whatever reason you get a rabbit trying to sneak out the burrow ive seen them feel the net on there nose and go back in Quote Link to post
Kev91 0
That is the problem ive been getting the rabbit comes out of the hole feels the net and runs back in.most ov the time my ferret catches it when it goes back in but just kills it in the hole and leaves it. Thanks for the advise mate will go for the lighter nets from now on Quote Link to post
AndyKelly 251
spun poly is the best thing you can get. as rabbits can only see in monochrome ( black and white) the lighter the net the less chance of the rabbit seeing it and rearing up Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,101
Good old hemp or as Andykelly said spun polly, trick is not to make it too thick and heavy, the problem with the thick heavy ones is they wont dry properly when hung and rot or cause other nets to rot by being in close proximity to them, every one gets the rabbit that will sit in the end of the hole, beacause the ferret is dealing with another and not close up behind it,I have seen that done with all types of net hemp/nylon/spun poly/ and irish lynen, garden twine seem to be too thick and solid, it allows the not to twist on the bite, and they end up slipping badly this usually shows up when the twine is wet through,as it swells, Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
Day glo yellow in spun poly. Can`t beat it. You get some odd looks from the old school tho. Quote Link to post
The one 8,494
Theres a few things to look at if rabbits are doing that ,you could be to noisy the rabbits are hearing you , your ferrets no pushing the rabbit to the surface ,and if they have been ferreted before they soon wise up . Tug 168
If you are going to spend time knitting, it's best to use kosher stuff. Spun poly for me, I'm all for tradition but there's also a place for progress. Quote Link to post
