I love brown trout even a small one is more rewarding than any stockie in my opinion. I remember my first brownie, I was about 13 and my old man took me and my brothers fly fishing up near the border between Scotland and England (possibly near Coldstream) it was only about 3/4 of a pound but a memorable day. Can't remember my first ever fish because my dad would take me on the canals and also sea fishing from a very young age.

 

Were you using a fly or other techniques?

well done mate. i still remember my first fish a wild brownie. i was only 9 or 10 it rained the whole time i caught 2 my brother didn't catch.funny enough he doesn't fish . it's a strange sport so addictive and can be expensive. good luck and enjoy it even the bad days
