crorider 174
Touchwood day 3 and still havent been nipped. Must of just taken them a week to get used to me if you reckon it takes about a week. Anything up to a couple of weeks normally IMO. You're right about working calming them down though, especially if you don't exercise them when they're not working. A hyper animal like that needs to let off steam I let them in the garden or a room in my house for about an hour a day and they spend most of the time playing with the dog, so they are getting a fair bit of exercise. Is this enough do you reckon? Quote Link to post
crorider 174
thanks again for the people who has given good advice,, ,,that game keeper who said that,,,, must of been in his 60s-70s,,+ been doing it all his life so WHY wouldnt one try what he said,,theres alot of arm chair rabbiters quick to have a go,iv had 4 stiches from a ferret bite in the past so know what theyr capable of,,,,, ,im still learning, ,and will be for the rest of my life,,,,theres people out there that would just hit the ferret on the head and be done with it,,,,,,iv tried what putting vinegar on my hand and it seems tobe working,,,also have uped the meat when feeding,as giving them biscuit everyday doesnt help,,,,but i do think im getting there slowly, and i to handle them at least twice a day,,,so again thanks for the good advice ATB FT WHY would you think there was the slightest notion of any sense in that theory? If he suggested lead pulling could be cured during excercise by hitting the dog with your penis whilst chanting Abba songs backwards would you have tried it? It makes as much sense.............  Quote Link to post
spazzy paddy 127
Who the f**k pisses on a ferret,, you need to get another hobby mate Just keep handling the wee thing, they all come good in time. Spit on yer hand and let it lick it off,, gently pushing a knuckle into the mouth to make it gag will also put it off biting, be aware that kits explore there surroundings by biting them, they are not strictly being eveil wee b*****ds, they just seem that way. Pissing on a ferret. Jesusfuckinghelpus rakeaboot spot on been doing this for the last 20 odd years and its never failed good advice and patients is the key.atb sp P.S why would any 1 want to piss on a ferret Edited September 19, 2012 by spazzy paddy Quote Link to post

tiger82 43
Yes never heard of that like. But knuckle regular handling spitting on your hand and also when they try and bite grab the scuff of the neck they all will work fine.. Quote Link to post
Alvaston_Shooter 1
Lol @ p*ssing on them, what?? Lots of handling from kits, take the odd nip but don't put the ferret down, just give it a stern NO and tap it on the nose. I've not met many ferrets that can't be tamed. If it's 12 months and still biting with intent then it'll never change, give it up or knock it on the head. Quote Link to post
