Attacked The Terrier

Recommended Posts

Decided the terrier needed a hair cut he was looking a bit scruffy, should do him for a while I reckon. And before anyone starts harping on about stripping is the only way blah blah, don't bother can't be arsed stripping clippers are a lot quicker.

Blah blah blah in the ''Freezing/wet'' your dogs weak thin pony coat will hold more water ''IE Making it freeze like fcuk'' & shiver its arsehole off, stripping by hand will encourage thicker hair to come through ''Keeping in warmer'' when out working your terrier.

Thats if you do work your dog !

All the best .....................from a Half breed from the Midlands

Well that told me, and you caught me out the dog doesn't work just sits in his kennel all day so I suppose he doesn't need a good coat.

You may as well just send him to the farm like all my other dogs did when i was younger

100% spot on BOLSTER.

For a waterproof jacket a Borders coat must be stripped out, Not clippered. That dead hair left in will give f**kall protection in the freezing cold.

So if you've got more hair you'll be colder !!! lol.

Correct....that dead hair needs to come out for the new coat to grow thru. It won't shed water and although it may look tidy now it will look a [bANNED TEXT] f**kin' mess in a couple of months time. It'll take fookin ages to get the coat [bANNED TEXT] again.

oh dear all them smooth patterdales and bedlingtons that go to ground must be freezing their whatnots off, and also YES a border should be stripped BUT it does it no harm whatsoever if it is clipped obviously NOT to be shown, only for work or the comfort of elderly dogs, no harm clipping whatsoever unless it's one of the types with a shit coat that turns to lint (which i have seen plenty of recently), my old dogs coats clipped down always come back to their harsh self, guess im lucky and mine have always had cracking jackets!! also dead hair should always be brushed completely out before clipping.

Hi vixen,

Borders should have a double coat so there is no comparison between them and smooth patts/beddies, and no amount of brushing will remove all of a blown top coat. It must be pulled to allow the new coat to grow. A blown coat holds water rather than shed it which is why i prefer to do the job properly. It only takes me 20-30 mins to do each dog and i'm sure they benefit from it when i have 'em out in all weathers during the winter months. The point i'm trying to make is, rhodey stated he couldn't be arsed to strip because clipping is a lot quicker. It would take me a lot longer to clean up the mess by clipping as i strip mine whilst out in the fields.
