mate you obviously don't get out hunting much so why act like you know what dogs can and can't do??? you're saying his dogs must be impressive because it's size and it can catch rabbits I know of dogs

Flat out in the open daytime 9 times out of 10 the rabbit will make it to cover, but if it keeps turning the bull will sometimes get it as he'll almost cut it off instead of following.   Like to ad

A bigger heart is more important than a bigger head...

Foxes over here that i have killed before the ban are not faster than rabbit's..they may have more stamina and able to run longer than a rabbit but they are not faster..you may see the odd quick one but that is about it..

Not sure I agree with you on that one, I'd have thought a fox was a bit quicker than a bunny?

You don't have to agree mate as you may of witnessed different to me.. ..i have chased the odd bunnie and fox over the year's.. :whistling: and a bunnie win's hand's down for me..i have also watched wildlife video's of fox trying to catch rabbit's and i have also seen them try in my day's mooching about and they have been left for dust by the humble bunnie.. ..and out of all the year's i have chased both i have never had a dog straight lined to a hedge of a fox but i have seen several bunnies do it on many occasion's..the only ever fox i have seen that i thought was quicker was with a dog chasing it that was a 50/50 fox dog that did not put the effort in that he would of done on bunnies..

Cheers, you know what last night had him out on the lamp I slipped him on a bunny and he just missed it, then a second he turnt it three times and just lost it and IMO he's out of shape at the minute....I'm gonna get him back into top shape and see if I can actually get him catching bunnies on the lamp because he even surprised me last night. Think I may have slightly underestimated his speed and agility. Plus if he does catch em it saves them needing to be minced haha

What sort of training/conditioning routine have you got him doing?

Link to post

I did have at one point a real good routine, plenty of flirt and spring pole, swimming, fetch, bike rides you name it we was doing it. But with work commitments and limited time he now gets a 2-3 bike rides a week with daily road/country walks plus he bushes with the terriers which is funny when you see two Russell's come out a bramble patch then a 70 odd lb bulldog covered in blood from the thorns burst out after. He also comes out lamping with the lurchers or alone if they're knocked up.
