McDonald's have been in business for years, they sell a lot of stock ..... So they must be doing something right, and please a lot of folk....... But it doesn't mean they make the best or even quality burgers. The best burgers are either home made or bought from an independent seller who prides themselves on sourcing the best ingredients to make a truly tasty burger.......

On a related note.... All those folk saying that you can't get a collie x pup elsewhere .......well, I've seen about half a dozen decent collie bred litters of lurcher pups on here lately ......and nearly all have struggled to home the pups..... Why??? Because they were worker to worker bred lurchers and not the exact neat percentages you could get from Hancock!

But McDonalds are consistent. You ask for a quarter pounder with cheese. You know what the burger is gonna weigh, you know how much cheese will be on there, you know which order the burger, cheese and relish will be stacked. And you know what it's gonna taste like.

Make one yourself and it's never quite the same. Probably nicer and certainly better ingredients. But never consistent.

Just my take on it.

I agree with Ideation this last year I have seen more genuine bred collie x litters than I have seen for a few years, bred from genuine dogs by genuine lads. I honestly regret not having one, but the time was just not right for me.

However I have seen several very good Hancock bred dogs over the years, and many dogs with his blood lines in which I would of gladly liked to own at the drop of a hat.

Personally I would not purchase, encourage or endorse 'dog farming' on principle, even for supposedly a good dog. If you want a collie cross dog keep your ears and eyes open, be patient and don't be blinkered about percentages.

not sure i agree on the burger analogy but, spot on with the collie x pups, 'magpies' really well bred and thought out pups spring to mind and if memory serves me right 'gwen' and 'lolo's' litter didn't fly out and look how well they're looking, from a selfish viewpoint these wannabes are putting folks off breeding their working collie x's, it'll be far easier and less hassle to go back to hancock for a pup rather than breed a litter thats not gonna shift

Mines a 1/4 pounder from Hancocks , he's a few fries short of a happy meal somedays. Come on Jai, burger analogy is a bit far off the mark, lol.

Apple pie a bit harder it's a flurried statement .

although your making a meal out of it this is leaving me in a pickle....its taken me a while to ketchup and its probably hard chips but i'm just gonna roll with it

One fella who sent several PMs in his 'long and fruitless' quest for a collie x messaged me back saying the Welsh litter had way too much collie in them and anyway he would prefer a dash of saluki in it..... :hmm::hmm::hmm: Well bugger me eh....?????

Phil's pups (Iolo and Gwen's litter) were slow to go.....dunno why.....???? They were for nothing at £120 and had been reared with no expense and were well and truly socialised.....dunno how Magpie got on with his....did he have them for a while....?????

I worked as a shepherd for many years...used collies to hunt/lamp rabbits/foxes and other stuff....have had 4 Hancocks in the past 30 years...and currently have Iolo and Finn here... I also have a well bred coursing greyhound bitch here which is grafted...and access to some of the best collie blood you'll find....

So, the futures bright....the future's collie greyhound......:laugh::laugh:

Laughing aside....would I go back to Hancock...... :hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm:

Hoping I won't ever have to...and also hoping in years to come Jack will have something worth carrying on....we'll see....

Long and winding road......

Hare shot before anyone wets their knickers......yeah you know who you are.....

Interesting thread. Only know what I've read on here, but it seems like blokes who have owned hancocks dogs love em, but blokes who have never owned them seem to hate em !

And that tells you what....?????

I would never rubbish something I hadn't tried......granted it might not be for me.....but until I'm in an informed position......I'd prefer to say nothing.... Just in case I start to sound foolish......and there's been plenty fools on this thread......

You are correct though......

Just had a look on you tube at working bearded collies look feck all like the show stuff : ) funnily enough. You wouldn't even know they were the same breed ,

True, think the same can be said for many breeds apart from a few exceptions.

It's what happens when you are breeding for looks over function or when a breeds loses it primary function.
