broonball 38
How many people do this? Is it dependent on ground etc or is it an every time out thing? Does it alter the way the dog runs, is the dog aware of them? Obviously it knows when you put them on, I mean whilst out. Do they bother the dog? Cheers Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
I would be very wary of recommending using anything with a fixed diameter on a dog's leg. Whilst an inner tube might suit some dogs, it would be way too tight on others, cutting off the circulation. Unless you have exact knowledge of how tight something should be, you could risk damaging your dog. Much better, in my humble opinion, to use stretchy tape. I use Elastoplast fabric strapping, fixed with a tiny dob of Superglue to seal the end: not stuck to the dog, but to the fabric beneath. Put a small piece of foam over the stopper under the strapping first. This has lasted all day even in wet, muddy conditions, with no risk of dirt, grit etc getting under the protection and rubbing against the skin. Also, if covering dew claws, it is common sense to pad between the dew claw and the leg to avoid the dew claw being pressed painfully into the leg by the tight wrapping. 1 Quote Link to post
dogger 100
insulating tape or micropore surgical tape does the same job 2 Quote Link to post
