3175darren 1,100
While I'm in fully in favour of a cull, I feel sorry for the people carrying it out, and any other legitimate shooters in the cull areas. There's going to be countless ignorant and stupid people sneaking about the countryside at all hours, doing anything and everything they can to save a cuddly little Brock.. This is an extract from one of their sites: We will be out in the fields before and during the cull, stopping and making citizen’s arrests on marksmen/women when we can, filming, rescuing injured badgers and neutralizing bait points when we find them. If ever there was an accident waiting to happen, this is it. Let's hope the full weight of the law is used to protect the people carrying out the cull (and their families and property), Thing is if the cull is within a small area they will have more chance to disrupt it, how big is the cull area?? And everyone they make a citizens arrest on, needs to sue for wrongfull arrest
Guest Leveller
they can only be shot and be with in 10 meters of the gun That's only a shotgun though it must be 12 bore full choke with AAA shot when shooting over a bait point from a fixed shooting position, such as a high seat. You can shoot with a rifle (obviously not at ten metres) the minimum cal is a .22 rimmy with a 50 grain bullet however no licenses will be issued for .22 because these are not considered powerful enough to ensure a humane kill. People haven't been "trained on the quiet" it's common knowledge perfectly legal.

kenny14 656
It's won't simply be a case of disrupting the cull. The things that would cause me concern are: Idiots creeping about at night where they shouldn't be (some who'd willingly place themselves between a shooter and Badger). They'll likely class any vehicle they see parked in gateways or woodland edges, as belonging to people involved in the cull, and consider those as 'fair game'. Someone (probably dressed like a terrorist) approaching a legitimately armed man/woman whose out deerstalking, Rabbit shooting etc, and attempting to 'apprehend' them. The list could go on and on, and quite frankly it's worrying, so as I said, I really hope the full weight of the law is used to stop these idiots before anyone gets hurt or property vandalised in the name of their cause. Born Hunter 17,751
If they want to try to perform a citizens arrest on licensed marksmen then that's their funeral. I don't think there will be that many hard core badger fanatics going around sabbing but if there is it may suddenly up the cost of the whole thing by needing police escort with the cull teams etc.

The antis and media would have a field day, regardless of whose fault it was. And I think there'll be plenty (IMO one is too many) willing to sabotage any cull, whether they're out in the fields or researching where the shooters live, and publicising their details.

Good Man 196
I culled badgers over here in the republic of Ireland for 7 years for the dept of agriculture under permit. We use live catch snares set on runs, which caught then round the waist. The snares had stoppers on, to stop the badger dying. To be able to do it, i had to have a firearms cert for a .22lr rifle. The badgers when captured in the snares, were shot in the brain, instant death. Over here, 30% of the badgers, carried tb. It sounds like the folk who are culling them over their in the uk, are going to have a tough time of it, crazy!!

Lab 10,979
.......................I can see 4 badgers there mate..... I know what you mean about if one of these fanatical c**ts get shot then there will be problems. But if the cull goes ahead then there should be a stance by the police that anyone snooping about and trying to disturb the cull process should be arrested. And if they get shot, tough shit!!!
