secretagentmole 1,701
Remember air rifles are not suitable for hunting big game or foxes chaps, according to sneering ignoramuses on other websites that is! I have always maintained you have to use the right weapon for the job, that is the right weapon, I keep getting tempted to go FAC for one of these, there are some Muntjac on properties I have permission to hunt on... Here Bambi burger..... Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Good luck with the Police clearing your permission for .357cal. Mike! You'd be best to go for something like .243 for deer culling if FAC is the way you want to go. Must say I would love to go on an African game shoot with one of these air rifles. No great 'bang' like a large cartridge round does. Powerful enough to knock down an animal this big. I'm very impressed. Kudu meat is absolutely delicious. You might expect it to taste like venison but, it's more like a delicately flavoured cut of beef, Beautiful meat. Simon. Quote Link to post
TeamWild 1
Kudu meat is fantastic I highly recommend it as well. This bit of kit would be great in a deer park situation or somewhere where noise is a problem. I am seeing my local FLO officer on Tuesday i will gather his thoughts to see about my fac. Cheers iVOR Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
I am not going FAC but if I did, that would be the weapon I would want! I keep thinking about it, but really my permissions are not suitable, shame really! Quote Link to post
Acuspell 329
What is the muzzle velocity though. The Deer Act states a minimum calibre of .240, so it ticks that box. It also states a minimum bullet weight of 100gns, so it ticks that box too BUT the minimum muzzle velocity of 2400 fps might be a sticking point. For small deer, which in this country (Britain) that means Roe, Muntjac and Chinese, you can use a .22 centrefire provided that complies with the minimum 50gn bullet weight and muzzle velocity again of 2400 fps. I agree with the concept, but the deer act is such that you can use .243 on red deer, but you can't use a 404 Jeffery because it falls down on the muzzle velocity bit! Quote Link to post
