ive always fancied hungary after reading that 90% of there diet was meat but then again theres always poland, that should be quite sparsley populated by now

Well as luck would have it I'm currently in Poland for a month with the dog, the idea was to give her a few runs on hares so by the time our season kicks in properly she'll be mega fit......THE bigges

in all seriousness, if someone does want to give it a whirl PM me as my mrs' mother owns a guest house and she's fine with you bringing your dogs over, German and Czech borders are both less than 8 mi

So if you wanted to go over for a few days, would the dog still have to wait 6 months until it could come back?

No mate, its dead easy now a days.

You just need the pet passport (about 150 all in) then with a day or so of your leaving date you take it to a local vet where they give it some wormers and check it over, easy as that. I think the rabies jab that costs most of the 150 and it lasts for 3 years

if it has been given wormer by a uk vet prior to travell you must return within 5 days or re worm abroad and wait 24hrs before return to the uk ,oviously only passporeted dogs can do this.

Cheers for all of the replies lads, much appreciated!

Rob - That sounds pretty good so far, and i might very much be interested in coming to visit and stay with your mother in law (been to poland a bit before). I think the problem in a lot of these countries is that the gun culture is very big and like you said, it can be a bit at odds with hunting with dogs. I've found that they seen happy enough with hounds, but not runners.

Swamp hunter - A trip to the states isnt too crazy an idea, the misses has ok'd a holiday over there to do some hunting, but is never going to agree on moving there.

Gitano - i'd be very interested in coming to see some hog hunting with dogs and knife in spain, how would one go about that?

Sounds good mate - just need some info now! Shouldn't be too complicated, it's only a short distance etc etc. A lot easier than trying to see the same in the US or Oz.
