Ideation 8,216
Hello! I know that a few members on here have done some over seas hunting in Europe. The misses and i are going to be moving back out of the U.K in the next couple of years and looking for a place to settle down for a while, a wee farm in the country side sounds about right. Anyhow, one of the obvious important factors is the rules and culture surrounding hunting with dogs. To be honest it wil probably be eastern europe, as we have both spent a fair bit of time living in various western european country and as great as they are, they are just not for us. So i was wondering if any one has any knowledge or experiance of dog work in any form in that part of the world? I lived in Hungary for a few years so know that they are very relaxed about it (and have some of the best hare coursing i have ever seen!!!) and lived in slovakia, where we hunted with hounds. But that's about it. Cheers, Jai. Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Hungary is great mate. I went for a couple of days and stayed two and a half years, then came back and after a few years, ended up back there for another two years. Flat as feck, lots of game, no poaching laws, farmers happy to see you, great food (if you like meat), great beer and spirits, nice people, beautiful women, good night life etc. Poland is up near the top of our list at the moment, like you said, should be a few free properties! desertbred 5,490
Bulgaria cost of living 1/2 UK, property cheap have Hunting laws mainly for guns, plenty of places to run dogs and people tend to mind there own business Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
It is Brown hares mate, and it's the biggest, flattest land in europe. The hares are everywhere, and its just flat, stubble as far as you can see, no fences. They run all types, but do favour the magyar agar, which is the hungarian greyhound and looks and acts like a greyhound would have a long time ago. Think the dogs blood originally came from the east, so same roots as salukis. Stew - aye pmd rob, his missus is polish and he took his dog out. Meant to be quite a bit of quarry. Only problem with bulgaria is its mafia corrupt as feck. Nice place though. Quote Link to post
