freelance 448
Any body read any of Mike Tomkies books ? I have read a few and there a refreshing change. Mike Tomkies was a ex coldstream guard and a journalist. Some of his books are A LAST WHILE PLACE and OUT OF THE WILD and WILDCAT HAVEN and my favorite is MOOBLI about a GSD dog called moobli who he bought as a companion and to use for tracking wild life. He goes to live on a remote scottish croft with no amenities and it can only be got two by boat, and there he writes about his isolated existence and tracks and observes highland deer wild cats eagles and other wild life, its well worth a read. You can probably get them on amazon as there quite an old book now, but certainly worth a look Cheers Atb

tegater 789
Yep read them and got them in my library. In about 1979/80, I had the chance to meet him, as a family friend knew him really well. I wasn't bothered at the time, and I have regretted it ever since!
tegater 789
Between Earth and Paradise is another one of his good reads. Fascinating fella though who made friends and loved the marsh Arabs of Iraq, the very people saddam hussain hated. (if my memory serves me correctly)
