I have a 12mth one in atm, he is good of lead and great with the terrier. I have lucy from Bob, she is erm 7yrs I think, she is fantastic off lead and great with the terrier. This may be, but from past experince, some are good, most can be killer mad They can take some time to settle down. If it was a track fighter, it will fight at the drop off a hat over the most trival things with other dogs, just a warning, but, then again, you could be plesently suprised and have a gooden. Frank. Guest MOLLY
A bit more info..... She is 21mths old. And it was the 1st time she has fought. I still followed her races keenly but after a few races in to the A6 grade she suffered a few bad bumps on the first bend and that seemed to knock her confidence a bit and she wasn't coming back from holding back on the bend. Anyway, i'm going on a bit here. She raced last night and to her trainers horror started fighting/interfering with another dog on the home straight and was disqualified. My only advice was to train the legs off her...recall and stock breaking especially. Is there anyway to go about this, that is better for ex tracks who have'nt been trained from pups? MOLL. Guest Frank
Their is ways and means, but not easy, then again, she is still a wee bit young, so their would be a better chance then say a 3 yo or older. Frank. Quote Link to post
Clip 0
Thanks Molly, Was just about to come on here and ask when i got your PM. Thanks guys, definitely some food for thought here. Was it a fighter or did it turn??. Like any dog,I'm sure you'll agree frank, asses it properly and treat it acordenly..............god i wish i could spell It was barely a fight more of a turn and bumping, the trainer doesn't think she'll be that much of a problem but she'll be penalized to bits and will hardly get put on the card now after a disqualification. socks 32,253
frank have you taken in many ex track dogs then ???????/// Quote Link to post
Cupid Stunt 18
It was barely a fight more of a turn and bumping It all comes under the official comment of aggressive interference which has always been termed by most racing folk as fighting. Quote Link to post

Sorry Frank but I have to disagree with you, what the dog did on the track doesn't mean to say he'll do the same when he's in a different environment.Obviously it will take time to settle into it's new surroundings, and will have to be watched very carefully around smaller animals, but with time and patience there is no saying what can be achieved It didn't take you long to write this greyhound off Frank is that through past experience Quote Link to post
FastDogz 155
Nah its a myth that tracks Greys cant be let offlead and will savage your terriers My experaince i have 6 yr old Greyhound lad got him fresh off the track 2 and half years ago...with injurys i got him as a pet his injurys still plauge him to this day and he cant have vigerouse runs..But if he could it would be only be somewhere 101% enclosed because i dont trust his recall for shit and hes keen as mustard and i have has him 2 and half years. Now on the other hand i did give a home to track bitch last August - Ran her race on Monday came to me on Tuesday! She was good little runner but the trainer needed the space and i had already agreed to give her a home she was injury free and a lovley girl - she was great offlead and didnt mind small dogs one bit although i always was safe than sorry because you just never know.Unfortuatly i had to rehome in after 2 months due to my shitty arse of a new landlord taking over and informing me i could only have 1 dog from now on..But she is now in a loving home and enjoying offlead runs daily recall 101% ..and wait for it..she even lives alongside a cat! You can never say never ... with a Greyhound yes id always err on the side of caution but what goes for one dosnt really mean there all the same. Guess only time will tell what this dog will be like All the VERY best of luck with it. Edited June 10, 2007 by FastDogz Quote Link to post

MOLL. hi bud to rectify the problem before it happens wld be your mates best option .because if anything does kick of with this greyhound and say some old biddies golden lad or somthing it will be over that fast and the other dog will be in that much of a mess your mate al no ken weather hes needin a shite or a hair cut . % of track dogs are psychotic bloodthirsty savages .a think its with doing all that training laping the track every second night and never actually getting to kill that fuzzy average pet dog sized thing they have bn chasing for 18MONTH .so me personally pal ad rectify it [bANNED TEXT] and just leave her at the track.
