stroller 341
Here are some photos of Janos currently 9 months old and although highly trainable he is nuts at the minute and spends most of his life at high speed. He is a bit taller than i thought he would be creeping up to 27" at the shoulder. Ive found him very switched on to dummy retrieving he is almost manic in his willingness to retrieve. He was a bit unsure about ranging out but he is getting there with the help of a hard hunting lurcher normally i wouldnt have dreamed of running the two together but it seems to have worked. He is just discovering he can find game on his own he flushed a pheasent, a rabbit and a woodcock the other day during a walk. no desire to chase really and i dropped him easily. But im sticking to basics at the moment until he starts to be less bouncy. hopefully he will get on the moor for a bit of training before the breeding season starts. The bitch he is running with is a rottie/mastiff cross just to give an idea of size. If you can give this breed the time it needs to develop physically and mentally they will serve you well. 1 Quote Link to post

Dave C 63
He looks big and strong stroller (ruggedly handsome) I know what you mean about them being bouncy, mine is doing my head in at the minute, just waiting till after the season finishes then will get that stopped. One second mine is running around crazy i then stop her on the whistle and she seams to calm right down, i can then send her for either a sighted or blind retrieve and she works very methodical using ground and air scent very well. She has just gone 6 months and although my Lab was further on i am very impressed with her progress and style. Will put some pics up. Quote Link to post

stroller 341
Shes looking Good Dave, i havent had a point yet but it will come as he matures. He is a bloody big dog and too be honest i didnt want a big dog but thats the way he is so i will get over it. They definately arent labs but they are still easy, like you with the dark nights and the shooting season i havent spent a concerted effort on any proper training but i will start asking more of him soon enough. i dont know what yours is like but this bugger bounces on the spot like tigger i often get my eyes washed which at 5.30am walking across muddy fields isnt nice and ive had the game on with him mouthing my big dogs ears and my hands, he only does it to me none of the the family suffer the same? Dave C 63
The day i picked her up she sang all the way home in the back of the truck, i put her on the grass and she went straight into point on my daughters pet rabbits and has done every day since. As for size her Dam was only 22" so i dont exspect her to be anywhere near the size of Janos but who knows, she is about the size of my Lab (21") at 6 months so i would exspect her to make about 23" ish.
