For F..ck sake

Took my glen male 7 mo in the badger test-den and he didnt mind the badger much. Tried him twice now at 10 m o and he surely is workable when it comes to attitude, perhaps more into getting into a rumble with the badger then baying properly, but does it good aswell, so far only been staying on for 5-7 min before i picked him up, but problem is glens are too big today for underground work, even though mine is 28lbs he way to big for the 9' trial-dens over here. There are 11' in ireland that perhaps are suitable, but the glens are not for digging in these parts. I must say though i cant be dissapointed with his interest, intensity and intentions when it comes to his tries facing badger or other quarry. I thought the breeds interest wouldnt be "there" anymore. Just hopes we can sort out his 1st one this year or next. I didnt buy the dog for hunting purposes and he might not end up for it anyway, but its a funny looking dog and has a funny character.

I believe its a day for Glen-enthusiats, fun day for kids n stuff, i mean it used to be the same with the bull breed shows before, and WP-contests, but everyone talked otherwise when on the pub :icon_eek: . The best one can do if someone wants the glen to a workable breed is to obtain a pair from as good parents as possible, at least seen them work and then keep maintaining it. I dont think all breeds genetics have gone to waste when some became show breeds, it just pops up more seldom. I read overhere in it is a west hightland white confirmation ch and hunting ch underground. For a fulltime hunter the selection of breeds n crosses are usually quite easy, there are hunting strains of almost any dog bred for it out there, but sometimes i think some wants to try sumtin else just for the fun. Like buying a cab-car or driviing a 4wd in suburban area...

Whats the problem?

Have a look on their website and you will see how these dogs are being wasted by people who care more for winning a rossette than how their dog works

that happens with all working terrier breeds you always get people that take them on and let them go to waste it happens with lurchers aswell the add about the show is just for people with glens to have a day out the same as lurcher and terrier shows and strong dog shows not everyone at them work their dogs its a shame but thats the way it is im sure there are still afew workin glens about
