Stud Fees

Recommended Posts

Lab, its not all about the dog mate,..Any prick can tell lies and cover up the truth about there dog so it can cover bitches to make a quick buck. Any man with a good well proven dog will know how hard they are to find/breed and would be willing well should be willing to help other folk out. You soon get to know what to look out for in folk after some years. Good honest men can be just as hard to find as good honest dogs.

I get that....but if someone chapped my door, said he had heard good things about my dog and wanted to use him for studding his bitch then i would be wanting cash if i wasn't looking for a pup. How am i too know he isnt going to make a packet from selling pups.? If it was a friend then totally different story. And if i really wanted to use a dog i would have no problem in paying the stud fee...

To all going on about no stud fees. For a FRIEND I'm willing to board the bitch and take care of her like one of mine for two weeks, mate the dogs every other day, wash them up before and after the mating, put up with the rest of the dogs going apeshit cause there's a bitch in heat in the yard, feed her, pick up her crap, make sure she's exercised, make damn sure she doesn't get out or get mismated and so on for nothing. For someone who's an acquaintance who's got a good bitch and wants what my dog has to offer, those services cost a cool $1,000 US. And no apologies and no strings either. The pups are yours to do with what you will. My thinking is by charging a stiff fee, you'll be more likely to respect the puppies and to put them where they will be appreciated. Feel free to disagree. My dog, my yard and my decision.

No matter how good the dog, if I asked anyone to cover one of my bitches and they asked for that sort of money I'd bitch slap the messer in the puss!! More likely to respect the pups, lol, your having a laugh, iv known a few that have had money to burn but they were far from decent dog lads that I'd not want any of my stock going too..

Yes your dogs your yard your choice but I'm glad I don't mix in such circles!!!

hickory. just out of intrest what breed of dogs do you keep an where did they come from??

I have six Russells. One I bought, three I bred, two were gifted.

I also have a big red mixed breed farm dog that we rescued.

The $1,000 keeps the riff raff out.

Money should never ever ever be involved with dogs end of!

Totally agree ...that is the problem in the gun dog world most lads are motavated by the pound if a lad has a decent dog that has won a few FTs he will put it out to all comers with out ever seeing the bitch work as he just wants to line his pocket and in all honesty you cant blame them takeing £400-£500 for letting his dog get its hole ....but like Ali says im glad I dont mix in they circles ...maybe if the gundog and most lurcher and terrier men bred purely for improveing stock then there would be so much litters and there certainly wouldnt be so much shite going about .

I honestly cant believe you asked that question cleanspade

thats where your wrong, i've never sold a dog in my life an would never think about it, very selective who has a mating to any of my dogs, upset many men by saying no even tho i could do with a grand, also cull any surplus pups instead of trying to find someone who i could trust only to find out years later they bred the bollocks out of them an sold the breeding on, but if i wanted to use a dog firstly because he was a first class digging dog an secondly bred [bANNED TEXT] to suit the intended bitch then a grand i think is no money atall to improve my kennel... you keep prostituting your dogs takan your grand an fcuking your dogs up. all the best.

hats off to hickory for honest posts. like he says his dogs his yard his choice  not everyone has the same idea's. but everyone with idea's tend to think they are right. its all about opinions. and refreshing reading  its dishonesty that is the bane of the dog world generally generated by folk wanting to be (THE MAN).  .
