NEWKID 27,716
Could only grab a quick couple of hours Sunday morning ( due to knocking up a new ferret court) no chance of doing any of the hedges because of the cover, so with a few purse nets, the dogs and a couple of ferrets I gave it a try in a wood at the bottom of a farm close by. From the pics you can see it's quite dense and you can't really straighten up, but the dog marked a fairly open bury and I netted up about 7 holes. First in was a young Jill that started last year she kept showing and messing a bit I gave her 10mins or so and then took her out and entered a small hob, he flew in and within a min I heard the familar bumping but no bolt, 5 mins passed still nothing then the bumping started again this time a rabbit shot out and was pinned by the lurcher the ferret right behnd as i took it from her another bolted at the bottom of the bank it was well pursed and my jack russell x crocodile made sure it could not escape as I scrambled down the bank. The ferret stayed up so I boxed him up and picked up the nets. The dogs never really marked anything else in the small wood and it was only to be 2 for the morning. Had a good mooch with the dogs through the sheep fields, but nthing else was bolted. Still a nice morning out, but I hink it'll be a while before we can get on the hedges round here. NEWKID 27,716
Thanks lads, th bitch is doing ok she's only just 2 so we'll see how the season pans out but I'm hoping she kicks on from a pretty good season last year BriBri: It's a real mixture of land on this farm from big arable fields with long thick hedges to varying size sheep fields and woods at the top and bottom with a few ground buries, it's really hilly so hard work on a nights lamping ATB Kev Quote Link to post
